My dad has an '07 9-3 Aero convertible, with the 2.8 turbo V6. It's a nice, comfy, reasonably well handling cruiser with some sportiness to it. Very comfy seats, above average power, an interior that's nice enough but doesn't quite live up to its original sticker price, and too-light steering.

That beautifully rare Solar Yellow Neon goes to your sister, and she must pay for her sins of crunching that quarter panel by forever being forced to see it every day.

Get that 9-3. I love those cars. Damn gorgeous looking, and pretty reliable too. I'd be a little concerned about it for just $3500 though. That seems really really low. In fact, too low for that car. I suspect something may in fact be very wrong, especially because of the weird behind the rear passenger door. May be indicative of rust, the same way nearly all second gen Neons have rust in that exact spot.

My neighbors have one, have had it for a long time. It's a nice car! If everything is in decent shape, that's not a bad price. Being from the cape, look underneath for rusty brake lines/subframe etc - just to know what you are getting into.

That damaged panel is part of the unibody. Replacing it involves cutting out the old one and welding in a new one. And I haven't gotten an official assessment of it yet but the way the taillight's been pushed into the "wound" suggests that perhaps the whole support structure underneath has been damaged.

Nothing specific. Sedan or wagon preferred for practicality reasons, no SUVS, MTX a must, can be found for <$4k.
